Building a Currency from BRICS
Ever since its inception in 2009, BRICS has been a counterweight to the established G7. As these enormous but diverse economies meet today for the 15th BRICS summit, much discussion has emerged as to what new institutions could be ratified. Previous comments about the "creation of a supranational reserve currency" has prompted speculation about a common currency, fit to rival the Dollar's hegemony. Could the BRICS create a new currency to restructure the ossified global financial order?
